Apple Blossoms

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2-3 medium crisp apples like Honeycrisp, Empire, or Cortland (about 1.5lbs)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds
  • 7-8 inch non-stick bunt pan

 

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Preheat oven to 350˚.
  2. Make apple sheets according to VASTA directions and cut into 10" sheets. Save the scraps. 
  3. Combine cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. 
  4. Lay sheets on a flat surface or cutting board. Brush apple sheets lightly with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon mixture. 
  5. Starting from the outer edge, lay sheets in the pan vertically. Continue to lay sheets in pan, trimming to fit if needed. 
  6. Sprinkle nuts over the apples and, using a spoon, push some of the nuts deeper into layers. 
  7. Use the smaller scraps to fill the spaces so apples fit tightly in the pan. 
  8. Bake for 30 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes and then gently turn out of pan.
  9. Makes about 4 servings
